Author Description Gary Blythe (b. 1959) is an award-winning illustrator. His first children’s picture book, The Whales’ Song, written by <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/11645._Dyan_Sheldon" title=" Dyan Sheldon" rel="nofollow noopener"> Dyan Sheldon</a>, won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1990. With enormous scope, emotion and detail, Gary has captured the icy grandeur of the Arctic in the picture book Ice Bear (by <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/22935._Nicola_Davies" title=" Nicola Davies" rel="nofollow noopener"> Nicola Davies</a>), and sent many shivers down spines with his terrifying illustrations for <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6988._Bram_Stoker" title=" Bram Stoker" rel="nofollow noopener"> Bram Stoker</a>’s Dracula (retold by <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7767._Jan_Needle" title=" Jan Needle" rel="nofollow noopener"> Jan Needle</a>), as well as illustrating numerous other children’s picture books. Gary lives in the Wirral, near Liverpool.
